Too polite for my own good?
So yesterday, I went to class despite being sick. Nasty headache for no apparent reason. Not the point.
So right in front of St. George station some random crackhead asks me for change. So I dig in my pocket, but before I get the chance to produce, he starts into a rant.
How do I know he was a crackhead, you ask. He told me. Several times. I received a monologue of deranged paranoia, where I wasn't directly threatened, but sort of. So I stood there for about 20 minutes listening to his pshycotic babble, while he stood far too close for my confort. Not nose to nose mind you or anything like that, but within my personal space no less.
And do you know what was running through my head?
It would be rude to walk away in the middle of a conversation. Even a very one sided one. Even a paranoid, delusional rant which may have involved threats to my own person.
So I ask, am I too polite for my own good?

Just a little. I consider myself a fairly polite person and I so would have walked away. I think. If I felt threatened I certaintly would have.
